All these tools are not freeware. But evaluation versions of these products are available for download.

• For doing the database design and creating entity-relationship diagrams: DeZign for databases v2.5.2 http://www.datanamic.com
• For help on PHP use the PHP manual from http://php.net as primary resource. A Windows HTML Help version is available for download as well. See http://www.php.net/download-docs.php
• A sad must-have for developers working on Windows is PsTools, a freeware provided by Sysinternals. It allows you to kill -9 a process which cannot be done with the TaskManager! In some situations php.exe seems to hang and the TaskManager does not allow you to kill it. Without PsTools you would have to reboot you machine.
